1. What We Publish
P3RSON publishes a transparency report about how we moderate the platform. It covers reports we receive, content and accounts we act on, appeals, intimate image removal, copyright notices, and requests from governments and law enforcement.
2. How Often
We publish twice a year. Each report covers one reporting period and shows the period it covers on its first page.
3. Metric Definitions
| Metric | Definition |
|---|---|
| Reports received, by category | Reports from users and others, counted once per report and grouped by the reason chosen (harassment, spam, fraud, inappropriate content, child safety, self-harm, misinformation, illegal activity, impersonation, intimate image removal, other) |
| Items removed | Pieces of content (posts, stories, comments, messages with media) we removed for breaking the Community Guidelines or the law |
| Accounts suspended or terminated | Accounts we suspended for a fixed period or banned permanently, counted once per action |
| Appeals received | Appeals filed under the Appeals Policy |
| Appeals upheld | Appeals where the original decision stayed |
| Appeals overturned | Appeals where we reversed the decision (a changed action counts separately) |
| Median time to first human response | The middle value of the time between a report arriving and a person first responding |
| Intimate image requests received | Valid and invalid requests made through "Intimate image removal" in the app or by email |
| Median time to removal (intimate images) | The middle value of the time from a valid request to removal of the image |
| DMCA notices and counter-notices | Notices and counter-notices received under the DMCA Policy |
| Government and law-enforcement requests | Requests for user data or content removal from government bodies and law enforcement, counted by request |
| Automated and human decisions | The share of moderation decisions made by automated tools alone and the share made or confirmed by a person |
4. Methodology
- Counts come from our moderation, appeals, and notice records for the reporting period.
- A report is counted when it arrives. An action is counted when it takes effect. An appeal is counted when it is filed.
- A single piece of content with several reports is counted once as an item and each time as a report.
- Reports about content that is later withdrawn by its owner are still counted as reports.
- Counts do not include internal tests or reports we reject as spam.
- Medians are calculated across all cases in the period, not averaged.
- We round percentages to the nearest whole number.
- We do not publish counts so small that they could identify a person. Where this applies, we say so.
- If we change how we count something, the report says what changed.
5. How to Read the Report
- A high number of reports does not mean a high number of violations. Many reports are mistaken or are not violations.
- "Overturned" shows how often our first decision was reversed. It is a measure of error, not of the appeal process failing.
- Automated tools flag content for review. The automated and human decisions line shows how many decisions a person made.
- Intimate image figures are shown separately because that process has its own 48-hour commitment.
- Compare periods carefully. A new feature or a change in rules can move numbers on its own.
6. How to Ask for More Information
Email [email protected] with the metric and period you want to know more about. Press, researchers, and users can ask. We answer when we can do so without exposing personal information or confidential legal matters.
