1. Purpose
This policy explains how to ask P3RSON to reconsider a moderation decision. It works with the Community Guidelines, which set the rules we apply.
2. What You Can Appeal
You can appeal any of these decisions about your content or account:
- Removal of a post, story, comment, message, or other content
- A restriction on content, such as reduced visibility
- A limit on monetization or a feature
- A suspension of your account
- A permanent ban (limited, see Section 8)
- A decision to take down content you reported, if you are the person who reported it and we found no violation
3. How to Appeal
- In the app: Settings > Appeals, or the Appeal button on the notice we sent you.
- By email: [email protected]. Include your username, the notice or action ID if you have it, and why you disagree.
You may add context, screenshots, or other evidence. You do not need a lawyer.
4. Deadline
You must appeal within 14 days of the date of the notice. If you miss the deadline, we may still look at the appeal if a serious reason (such as illness or a hospital stay) kept you from filing. Say why in your appeal.
5. Who Decides
- A different reviewer from the one who made the first decision reviews your appeal, when practicable.
- A person makes the decision. Automated tools may help sort appeals, but they do not decide them.
- You can file one appeal for each action.
6. How Fast We Decide
| Appeal | We decide within |
|---|---|
| Content removal or restriction | 48 hours |
| Account suspension | 7 days |
| Limited appeal of a permanent ban | 7 days |
The time runs from when we receive your appeal. We email the result and show it in Settings > Appeals.
7. Possible Outcomes
| Outcome | What happens |
|---|---|
| Overturned | We reverse the decision, restore eligible content or access, and remove the action from your violation history. |
| Upheld | The decision stays. We send the reason in writing and any next steps. |
| Changed | We keep a violation but change the action, for example a shorter suspension. |
A decision in your favor does not restore content we must keep removed by law, or a non-consensual intimate image.
8. What Cannot Be Appealed
- Content tied to CSAM, human trafficking, or terrorism
- Any action after a fourth violation
- A second appeal of the same action
- A decision where the law or a valid court order requires us to act
A permanent ban can be appealed only if you were identified by mistake or the decision rested on a data error.
9. Statement of Reasons
Whenever we remove or restrict content, limit visibility or monetization, or suspend or terminate an account, we send a notice. The notice contains:
| Item | What it says |
|---|---|
| What we acted on | The content, account, or feature |
| The rule | The Community Guidelines section that applied |
| The facts we relied on | A short clip or description of the content in context |
| How it was detected | Whether automated tools detected it, and whether a person made the decision |
| Effective date and length | When the action started and how long it lasts |
| How to appeal | The 14-day deadline and the steps to file |
We do not name the person who reported you.
10. Escalation
Your appeal can move up when the first reviewer is unsure or you ask for a higher review after a decision:
- Moderator
- Senior Moderator
- Senior Trust and Safety Review (internal review)
Each level can reverse the earlier decision. The decision of the last level is final under the Terms of Service.
11. While Your Appeal Is Pending
- Content stays down and suspensions continue unless the reviewer decides otherwise.
- You will not receive a new violation for the same content while it is under appeal.
- Intimate images removed under the TAKE IT DOWN Act stay down during the appeal.
12. Intimate Image Removal Requests
If we refused to remove an image you asked us to remove, or the person who posted an image wants it reviewed, both can use this policy. Email [email protected] with the subject "Intimate image removal appeal."
13. Copyright Notices
Copyright takedowns follow the DMCA Policy. To contest one, send a counter-notice through the DMCA Counter-Notice page. Do not use this appeal process for that.
