What Is P3RSON Booking Protection?

P3RSON Booking Protection is planned payment protection for bookings: both sides agree the scope and amount, the brand funds the booking before the shoot, and payment releases to the talent when the brand marks the work complete. The platform fee on a Booking Protection booking will be a flat 10% of the booking amount, and Stripe's 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee will come out of the creator's payout. Booking Protection is not live yet.

The talent industry has a payment problem, and everybody knows it. A 2023 Freelancers Union survey found that 71% of freelancers have struggled to collect payment at least once in their career. In entertainment and modeling, the numbers are worse. Net-30 invoices stretch to net-60. Agencies sit on checks. Some brands ghost entirely after the shoot wraps.

P3RSON is being built to tackle that problem at the root. Not with better invoicing. Not with polite reminders. With Booking Protection: a planned system where the booking will be funded before you ever step on set.

What Is Held-Funds Payment and Why Should Professional Talent Care?

Held payment is a financial arrangement where a neutral third party holds funds until both sides of a transaction fulfill their obligations. It has been standard in real estate for decades. A buyer doesn't wire $400,000 to a stranger and hope the house keys show up. The money is held until the deal closes. Both parties are protected.

The talent industry never adopted this. Talent has been operating on trust, handshakes, and prayers since the beginning. You book a gig, deliver the work, send an invoice, and wait. Sometimes 30 days. Sometimes 90. Sometimes forever. Booking Protection is planned to bring a similar kind of protection to bookings on P3RSON.

How Does Booking Protection Protect Talent Payments?

Here is how it is planned to work, following the booking flow in P3RSON's Terms.

1. Brand Starts a Booking

A brand will initiate a booking with an agreed scope and amount. It could be a UGC campaign, a brand ambassador event, a photo shoot, anything. The brand will find and shortlist talent, and AI-assisted matching is planned but not live yet.

2. Funds Will Be Held

The brand will initiate the booking, and the payment will be held with Stripe before the shoot. The creator will then confirm the booking. Both sides will agree the scope and amount first, so the money will be set aside before you ever step on set.

3. Talent Delivers

You do the work. Show up on time, deliver the assets, hit the brief.

4. Funds Will Be Released

The brand will review the deliverable and mark the booking complete. The held funds will then be released and split: the planned flat 10% platform fee to P3RSON, Stripe's 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee to Stripe, and the remainder to your Stripe account. Payout timing will depend on Stripe. No invoice and no follow-up email.

What Happens When There Is a Payment Dispute?

Disputes happen. A brand says the deliverable missed the brief. Talent says they followed the scope exactly. In the old model, whoever has more power wins. The brand ghosts or the talent eats the loss.

Booking Protection is planned to handle it differently. Under P3RSON's Terms, a dispute can be filed within 30 days after booking completion, with evidence such as booking messages, photos, and contracts. Refunds are available within 30 days for reasons such as a service not delivered or a cancellation agreement.

It will be a documented process with a paper trail, and the details are in P3RSON's Terms of Service. When the rules are clear and the money is already funded, people tend to behave better.

How Does Booking Protection Compare to Other Payment Methods?

Let's put the options side by side, because this is where the gap becomes obvious.

Traditional invoicing. You send a PDF after the work is done and hope the client pays. The average freelancer spends 20+ hours per year chasing invoices. There's zero guarantee you'll see a dollar. Net-30 is a suggestion, not a contract.

PayPal and Venmo. Fine for splitting dinner. Terrible for professional services. PayPal's seller protection is designed for physical goods, not talent bookings. Chargebacks are trivially easy for buyers to initiate. And neither platform holds funds in advance.

Agency payment. The agency collects from the brand and pays you after their cut. Standard commission is 20% to 50%. And agencies can hold your check for weeks after they've been paid. You're trusting a middleman with your money and your timeline.

P3RSON Booking Protection (planned). The booking will be funded before work begins and released when the brand marks the work complete. Disputes will be handled with evidence, not leverage. The platform fee will be a flat 10% on completed bookings, plus Stripe's processing fee.

How Do Brands Benefit from Booking Protection?

Booking Protection won't just be a talent play. Brands will benefit from it just as much, and the smart ones know it.

First, you will only pay for completed work. Your money will be held until the deliverable meets the brief. If talent no-shows or delivers something off-spec, you will be able to raise a dispute. The dispute process exists for both sides.

Second, payment protection will build trust with talent. The best talent is selective about which jobs they accept. When they see your payment is already funded, they'll be more likely to say yes. You'll get access to better people because you've demonstrated you're serious.

Third, it will reduce the back-office overhead. No purchase orders, no invoice processing, no accounts payable follow-ups. The platform is planned to handle the financial workflow. For brands running multiple campaigns with dozens of creators, that operational savings can help justify the platform fee.

Why Is P3RSON's Payment Protection Approach Built Differently?

Booking Protection is planned as part of P3RSON's booking flow rather than bolted on as a feature. Every Booking Protection booking will run through it.

The system is planned so both sides have skin in the game. Brands will put up the money. Talent will put up the work. Bookings are meant to be safer for both.

That's the future P3RSON is planning for talent payments. Not longer invoice cycles. Not more financial intermediaries. Just funded bookings, approved work, and clear payouts. Simple enough that you wonder why nobody did it sooner.
